our story
MEDC originated its history as a debate competition from the 2017 Maitreyawira Fair, we developed a big interest in holding an event that is exclusively for, and about debate. As debating has altered our views on a variety of notions, it invigorated an establishment for a new, amazing, and revolutionary platform that everyone yearns for each year; MEDC. Everything started off as a regional competition in 2018 that we never thought would last long, but the legacy has and will prevail for the story to pass on, even until the present time of 2024, and that is all thanks to you, debaters, for making this event possible.Uncovering several intriguing records as we established the forum by delving into the concept of Principiis Trium trilogy from 2017 to 2019, soaring high into the Surrealistic World in 2020 and diving deep into Atlantis in 2021. In 2022, presenting the 4 Cardinal Virtues. We marked the beginning with the concept of Prudence, to discern either virtuous or vicious. Persisting with the next virtues, we went deeper to seek Justice in 2023, rendering morality to not dwell on inequity.In 2024, MEDC is making a triumphant return with a fresh and innovative twist. Under its new identity as MXDC (Maitreyawira Debating Championship), the ‘X’ refers to the X variable in mathematics, symbolizing the unknown, or something that is in need of searching. It signifies the diversity of agendas MXDC will showcase, adding an essence of mystery to the upcoming years. Continuing to the Third Cardinal Virtue: Fortitude as its guiding principle, MXDC is set to challenge participants to exhibit unwavering courage, resilience, and determination in the pursuit of excellence in debate. As it redefines itself, MXDC promises to be an exciting and inclusive arena for aspiring debaters.Debating is not only an outcome.
